Georgina H. Escobar is the author of Playwright as Enchanter: A Compositional Method in Dramatic Writing. Commissioned projects include translation for Another Word for Beauty (The Civilians; Jose Rivera): an investigative theatre piece about the women in Columbian prisons; and book for Coal: A Musical Fable (Little Globe;Santa Fe.). She is a native of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico and received her MFA from the University of New Mexico. Her original plays include The Circuz (Words Afire, UNM), The Ruin (Manhattan Rep) and Ash Tree (Fourth Wall Productions). Ash Tree is winner of the Kennedy Center’s National Award: Theatre for Youth. It has received staged readings in Indianapolis (Bonderman), a production in Albuquerque (Duke City Repertory Theatre) and it represented the USA in Copenhagen, and Malom (Association Internationale du Théâtre de l’Enfance et la Jeunesse). She worked at the O’Neill Theatre Center as Literary Associate and for American Theatre Magazine as Editorial Intern.
